“Balance” for Stress Management
Balance is a buzzword often used to describe the act of effectively navigating your schedule. An optimally balanced schedule allows for sufficient amount of time for both responsibilities and personal pleasures. When life gets thrown off balance sometimes routine demands can be perceived as harder, overwhelming and more stressful. This can cause the positive aspects of life to be overshadowed or forgotten.
Some signs of being worn out or unbalanced include ill health, anxiety due to stress, migraines, insomnia, depression, and health issues such as high blood pressure.
As a result, your productivity can slow because of feeling stressed and not being able to concentrate on the task at hand.
What can you do to boost your balance and get high on happiness?
~Balance At Work
Try a Brain Break. Take a few minutes to pause from daily work tasks by deep breathing, listening to music or gazing out the window.
Take a Wellness Walk. A quick stroll during the work day may help you to re-charge, manage stress and release emotional pressure. Studies demonstrate a strong link between physical activity and mental health.
Prepare for Casual Collision. Your water cooler chat or coffee talk with co-workers is a casual collision.
~Balance At Home
Participate in Pleasurable Activities or Hobbies. Join a group activity, try yoga or a massage, play a pick-up game, watch sports, go fishing – participate in something just for fun. Participating in activities for just pure pleasure may influence your mental outlook in a positive way.
Volunteer. Giving to others, albeit energy and time- consuming, may contribute to a greater sense of purpose for people, which might, in turn, positively influence health and help others.
Social Support. Spend time with family, reconnect with friends or seek out professional support if needed.
