Opportunities to Unite

Well it is that time of year when we have our United Way Campaign. This is always a time when all of our employees show their support to the community and their fellow workers. The United Way not only provides several community services (ie. Salvation Army, Red Cross, Domestic Violence programs and many others), but also provides help to many of the QPP employees. By supporting the United Way, you are helping each other. I have always been very proud of QPP employees in the way they step up and give. We are the leader in the community when it comes to supporting the United Way, and the community is well aware of how important QPP is!

November is also a time to recognize the Veteran's. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you Veteran's that work at QPP for your service. You have given much to protect us and keep the county great!

The next couple of months should be fairly busy. We will work at least two Saturdays in a month and 19,000 Monday through Friday. We will be coming out with our Christmas week schedule soon, but I will say this, you can plan on a three day weekend (Friday 12/25- Sunday 12/27).

We continue to have a good safety record. Thank you for working safely and helping each other to be safe!

Be safe,

Kelly

Quality Pork Processors encourages its employees to live healthy lifestyles. Employees who are at risk for Diabetes may be eligible to participate in a program at the YMCA of Austin. QPP has partnered with Quality Health and Wellness Clinic, onsite at QPP, and the YMCA to assist employees and family members by bringing awareness to the program and to help cover the cost.

There are certain requirements to be eligible. To determine whether someone qualifies they simply visit the onsite clinic at QPP to complete a blood test and a risk assessment. The provider will then determine if they are eligible and refer them to the YMCA.

This is a great opportunity for those who wish to take control of their health. The goal of the program participants is to lose weight and to increase physical activity to reduce their chance of developing Diabetes.

The program meets on a regular basis and the participants are guided by a wellness coach in a group setting. You do not have to be a YMCA member to participate. Under specific guidelines, QPP will help cover the cost if accepted into the program.

There have been two QPP employees who have completed or are currently in the program that would highly recommend this to anyone who needs it.

For more information about the Diabetes Prevention Program visit QPP onsite clinic or contact Jill Wagner at the YMCA at 507-433-1002 or jwagner@ymca-austin.org.

Hello Everyone!

Going to start getting cold so make sure you bundle up and keep yourself in good spirits.

We have safety meetings every month that are required to be attended by all of our employees. We have these meetings because we as a company are required to do so and we have an obligation to keep our work force informed. The information presented is designed to cover items that are for your well-being at work and at home. If you do not attend the meeting you essentially are leaving without permission as you do get paid for the time of the safety meeting. There is also the responsibility by our supervisors to make sure the information has been presented to all employees in their department. What this all means is that we all must attend the meetings and that this is not optional.

There have been many instances when I am at home and have utilized some of the information from our safety meetings and thought how cool is it that we can make a difference!

As always……STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS!

To all our Veterans...

We thank you for your service and sacrifices. We are forever grateful!

Happy Veteran's Day!

Quick Note:

We just finished an investigation from the USDA on a hidden video in livestock. I am happy to report that all of our livestock employees did their jobs well. The hogs were treated humanly. It is against company rules to film in the livestock area and possibly illegal. Please report any suspicious activity in livestock.

Thank you,

Kelly
