Do you know someone that is deserving of this honor? You can nominate them by coming up to HR and filling out a form on who you want to nominate and why.

Congratulations to Jasmine Soto who works on the Day Pork Pack.  She received the Riverland Community College Scholarship of $750.00 to be used for her tuition at Riverland Community College.  The Scholarship was named in honor of former QPP longtime office employee, Vicki Braaten. It is awarded in the Spring to a selected person, who is either a Quality Pork Processors employee or is a family member of a QPP employee.  Those Riverland Community College students who are interested must apply through the Riverland Community College Foundation and must be a full time student with a minimal GPA.  Any questions, stop into the HR office.

Time Marches On

I can’t believe I have been at QPP for 24 years. It has been a wonderful ride. QPP has grown and has been very successful. Thanks to all of you that have worked with me for the last 24 years. It gives me great pride to be a part of this great workforce. I have had the pleasure of watching young people succeed at their job and have learned many life lessons from all of you. As many of you know, come July, I will be stepping down as President. I will still be with the company but in an advisory role. I will be playing more golf (some don’t think this is possible) and traveling. QPP is very special to me; I plan to be around a long time helping where ever I can. I look forward to QPP’s continued success and I know that Nate and Mel and the rest of the management team will continue to provide everyone with a safe and productive work place. I will also keep reminding everyone to work SAFE.

Thanks to you all,

Kelly

Cold and Flu Season is here and we have definitely seen a lot of it!

THE COMMON COLD

It is caused by various different viruses and is easily spread through touching people and objects (door knobs, computer keyboards, telephones, and eating utensils).

Symptoms include:

  • Coughing
  • Sneezing
  • Stuffy/Runny Nose
  • Sore Throat
  • Watery Eyes
  • Mild Headache/Mild Body aches

Pain Relievers, Decongestants, and Saline Nasal Sprays may help relieve symptoms. Use only as directed.

THE FLU (INFLUENZA)

It is caused by the influenza virus and is spread by coming in contact with those infected with virus—even up to 6 feet away! There have been an increased number of influenza cases in our area, even for those who received the flu vaccine.

Symptoms may last up to 10 days and include:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Body Aches
  • Cough, Runny Nose
  • Sore Throat

A test can be performed to detect the influenza virus and an anti-viral drug may be prescribed, but rest and fluids are the key.

Get Vaccinated. Wash your hands. Avoid sick people.

Don’t come to work unless you have been fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.

Always remember: QPP Health and Wellness Clinic is FREE to all employees!

Hello Everyone!

I am so pleased to announce the incredible participation by many in the HOBS Hazard Report program. The last “wheel of fortune” spin to employees netted them almost $800 in less than 1 hour. We will be spinning again in the next couple weeks so you still have time to find some hazards and turn in a HOBS report. Remember....for every HOBS submitted you get to spin for each one. The benefits are removing hazards that could affect others and you so there is no reason to not participate. If you need help writing down the information simply ask for help. A supervisor or safety committee person will gladly assist. Someone asked me the other day what would happen if they scratched off a ticket and won $10,000.00. My response was that person would be $10,000 dollars richer! QPP is committed to everyone’s safety and we are happy to reward everyone who participates in the program.

GO GET THEM!!!
