Taking safety seriously
Our employees are our most important asset, so we take safety participation, awareness and education seriously. Through established committees and programs on safety, health and ergonomics, employees are encouraged to participate and provide input to develop and maintain a safe and effective workplace.
Our safety, health and ergonomic programs are and must continue to be an integral part of all operations. This excellent safety record could not be achieved without top management leadership and support, as well as full employee participation in our STOP program.
STOP (Safety Training Observation Program) is a non-punitive system that allows supervisors and employees to discuss unsafe acts and behaviors. The goal of the program is to help employees understand what could happen if unsafe practices continue. The program harbors continual communication between employees and supervisors about safety.
QPP employs a full-time safety director who oversees and directs the program. The plant also employs four full-time coaches who handle all safety training for new employees. All new employees are required to participate in a safety orientation. This continues to involve program introductions and the use of personal protective equipment, lockout/tag out, chemical safety, ergonomics and emergency action plans. Orientation and safety trainings continue on a regular basis.
